First established in 2002 by Fawad Akhtar, SEDC Ltd is a small, family run design practice based in Walthamstow, London.  A Qualified Structural Engineer, for almost 20 years Fawad has worked on civil engineering and structural projects of all kinds. He has worked in the consultancy, contracting and government sectors.

We pride ourselves on being  a small one stop shop that are able to give our clients a personalised service.  Over the last 13 years we have built up solid relationships with many local authorities and professionals working in the construction industry, so we are able to deal with all parties involved in a building project from the builders to the council to the home owner.

SEDC has full professional indemnity insurance covering our work.

Membership and qualifications

We are qualified members of several professional bodies including the CABE – Chartered Association of Building Engineers , the FPWS – Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors. and Pyramus and Thisbe

Our CDM Co-ordinator has suitable qualifications, skills and experience in design and construction and Health and Safety qualifications (NEBOSH).

Charges and Quotes

We often get asked about costs over the phone or on email.  We are happy to give general advice and approximate prices informally over the phone or by email, however in almost all cases to provide a firm quote we have to conduct a site visit.

We charge a nominal, fixed amount for site visits where we can assess the property, provide advise and give you a firm quote.  There is no time limit to this site visit, however in most cases they last under an hour.  This ‘site visit’ charge is then deducted from the final quote should you wish to appoint us to complete the work.
