SEDC are a small family run practice based in East London, working in and around London and the home counties.  We pride ourselves on being a one stop shop for all your building design needs.  The aim of our practice is to provide a friendly service with honest, straightforward advice and high quality planning and Engineering designs.

Planning and Design Services

We can prepare detailed planning applications to local authorities for various types of projects, ranging from small residential properties to large scale commercial developments.

We can also deal with change of use planning applications and advise you on permitted development under the Town and Country Planning Act and whether your alteration will require planning permission

Building Control Applications

SEDC can give advice and provide the calculations needed to show that your project complies with the building regulations. We can process the whole building control application from filling in the submission forms to obtaining final approval.  Alternatively we can just tackle particular matters to suit you.

We have long standing relationships with several Local Authority building Control departments in greater London as well as independent inspectors.

Structural Design

We are able to design all the structural elements for our client’s projects, from new build to refurbishment, from terraced house to warehouse.  We are experienced in engineering a wide range of materials, such as steel, timber, concrete and masonry. All our work is carried out to the latest British Standards and Eurocodes.  We will create full working drawings showing plans, sections and details, along with calculations

Surveys and Reports

SEDC Ltd is often commissioned by Companies as well as by private individuals to carry out Structural Surveys and dilapidations reports on properties.

Party Wall Matters

We are experienced Party Wall Surveyors. If you are planning to undertake some work on your property which falls within the scope of The Party Wall etc. Act 1996 we can advise you on the necessary procedures. Alternatively, you may have been served notice by a neighbour in relation to some proposed works and require a party wall surveyor to act on your behalf. Whichever side you are on we will be happy to advise you.

Construction Design and Management (CDM)

Our professional (Construction Design and Management) CDM Coordinator is a qualified Health and Safety professional.  We can advise clients on health and safety issues during the design and planning phases of construction work and our CDM coordinator is someone who has and knowledge and experience of planning, management, construction, and communications. We can prepare the project Health and Safety paperwork and make the required notification to the HSE.
